The handbook is a step-by-step guide to helping nature on your land essentially ‘holding your hand’ through the process

The handbook is based on contributions from the Farming for Nature Ambassador network, along with the most up-to-date agricultural and environmental science. This is a handbook written by farmers for farmers and supported by science. The book sets out how nature can benefit but also how farmers can benefit from farming for nature on both their land and their pocket.

The book has 12 chapters broken down into easy-to-use guides such as proper hedgerow management, how to install a pond for wildlife and managing soil for diversity of species.

All farming enterprises are covered from grassland to tillage and horticulture. Farmers are all noticing the changing weather patterns. This handbook will help guide and instruct farmers on how to manage excess water and protect farms for the future. It also sets out how to work with wetlands and develop effective carbon sinks.

Renowned food writer, advocate and Farming for Nature Ambassador Darina Allen said the book was

An invaluable resource for the rapidly growing community who are discovering that farming with nature is the only way forward’.

Thank you to the funders of Farming for Nature; the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and the National Parks and Wildlife Service for assisting with this project. Also special thanks to Farming for Nature’s publishing champions Bread 41 and Ballymaloe Cookery School for helping get this essential manual off the ground.
